The Kids Run the Nation program is a gender inclusive, multi-week, youth running program designed by the Road Runners Club of America to meet the physical activity goals outlined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for children.
The emphasis of this program is on participation and developing a healthy lifestyle as opposed to being a competitive running program. The focus is on improving personal times and distances…and having FUN!
Families in Training, a locally-owned business, has delivered the program to our area since 2011. The outline of the curriculum for the program was developed by the Road Runner Club of America and further developed by Families in Training.
Among the lessons covered:
- Proper running form
- Fueling & hydrating
Registration in the culminating race is included in KRTN program fees.
The program is currently offered in Brambleton, Viginia. Participants do NOT need to live in Brambleton.
Our program is offered in the Fall and Spring and is designed for kindergarten through eighth grade. Minimum age to participate is 5 years old. Kids are divided into age/ability groups.
Practices are held in Brambleton at Legacy Elementary School.
